Hi,

Can someone explain to my why if I have maps switched off (URL Manager
-> properties -> Use Maps -> No, i am able to view maps for the blog
gadget e.g click on SingleView and I see blog/show/{id}. If I set use
maps to yes, this information disappears 'No maps were found'.

Also, all the maps seem to say 'no action for this map'. What is an
action in this context and can an action be added or edited?

Thanks!

Luke.

Well, tell me the value of 'Maps to use' (URL manager -> properties)?

Cheers,

I figured this out (props to thekad) and think I now understand maps and
aliases. if you have use_file enabled it works correctly. I would still
like to get rid of all '/index.php/ ' references from my URLS though. I
understand that I can use .htaccess to do that but I personally think
that they shouldn't be included in a map. One good reason for not having
php anywhere in your URL is that it instantly tells a hacker what
language you are using. yes, a decent hacker will find that out anyway
but why give it to him on a plate?

what do people think? As I'm the one complaining about it, I would be
prepared to produce a patch if the core devs could help me with what
needed changing.

thanks,
